The recruitment industry gathered under a silk cloth of glamour last night as the Auckland War Memorial played host to the 17th annual Seek Awards. A night fraught with winners, losers, jeers, and cheers. Other than the Pow Wows of old, it’s the only time I get to observe all the cast members of our own little Great Show in full flight. A Cornucopia of characters conversing; big wigs and little wigs putting aside relative opposition to come together, for a night which represents an aspect of our roles that cannot be reinforced enough; celebrating success.
There are seven awards up for grabs with four finalists in each category, excluding the Large Recruitment Agency of the year award which sees Page Group go head to head with Talent International. In what is a real ‘Seek success story’ Talent has found themselves climbing the ladder in plaudits claiming both small and medium in preceding years, can Page Group halt the treble? Now, by posing the question I may have revealed that I’ve written this blog ahead of time. Time management is also a crucial component of what we do. Also, knowing how to prioritize is of paramount importance as tonight/last night I find myself having some skin in the game. No, Rice Consulting hasn’t quite recovered from the snubbing of 16. My association is a little closer to home. Peter Stewart; Founder of Lynx Recruitment and as luck would have it my current flattie, is the potential recipient of not one but two SARAs. So, irrespective of result I think I’ll be crawling across the usual 10:30 am deadline tomorrow morning. I will, of course, be melding the past and present together tomorrow/this morning to reveal the winners of 2019’s Seek SARA awards. Starting to feel a sci-fi impulse to send a message to future Scott; drink water!
